Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over it. Written plainly, because you should be able to understand it.

In short:we collect what we need to match you with people nearby — your name, email, date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, your location, and your photos. We don't sell your data. We never see your card details. You can delete your account and data.

01What we collect

Account: your full name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password itself.

Profile: date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, display name, bio, and photos.

Location:with your permission, your device's approximate coordinates, used to show you people nearby and to show your distance to them. You can decline this and still use the app.

Activity: connection requests, messages you send, and reports or blocks you make.

Payments: a record that you paid, the amount, and a reference from Paystack.

02What other members can see

Your display name, age, photos, bio, and rough distance from them.

They cannot see your email address, your legal full name, your exact coordinates, your date of birth, or your payment history.

03Why we collect it

To create and secure your account.
To show you compatible people nearby, and you to them.
To let you connect and chat once you're a member.
To take payment for membership.
To keep the community safe and investigate reports.
To send you notifications you have not turned off.

04Card details

We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Paystack on their own secure checkout. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, and a reference for it.

05Who we share with

We do not sell your personal data. We share only what is necessary with the services that run the app:

Paystack — to take payment.
Resend — to send verification and notification email.
Cloudflare R2 — to store your photos.
Railway — to host the app and its database.
Sentry — to record technical errors. We deliberately strip authentication details and disable personal data in these reports.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

06Your notification choices

You control every notification email from your notification settings, and each email links straight there. Turning them off never affects your access — you can opt out even if your membership has lapsed.

07Your rights

See the data we hold about you.
Correct anything that's wrong — most of it is editable in your profile.
Delete your account and personal data.
Withdraw location permission at any time in your browser settings.

08How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your profile, photos, and messages.

Two things outlive deletion: payment records, which we must retain for accounting, and safety reports made about you, which we keep so a banned person cannot simply start again.

09Security

Passwords are hashed with Argon2id. All traffic is encrypted in transit. Sessions can be revoked, and resetting your password signs out every existing session.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.

10Children

Linkup Match is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we delete such accounts when we find them.
